Ronda

On Saturday I took a day trip with a friend to Ronda, Spain. It's about 1.5 hrs south of Seville. Here's a snippet from andalucia.com:

"It is famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio Guadalevín through its centre. Visitors make a beeline for the 18th century Puente Nuevo 'new' bridge, which straddles the 100m chasm below, for its unparalleled views out over the Serranía de Ronda mountains."

"Ronda is also famous as the birthplace of modern bullfighting, today glimpsed once a year at the spectacular Feria Goyesca.  Legendary Rondeño bullfighter Pedro Romero broke away from the prevailing Jerez 'school' of horseback bullfighting in the 18th century to found a style of bullfighting in which matadores stood their ground against the bull on foot. IOtherwise the bullring, Plaza de Toros, is now a museum, and visitors can stroll out into the arena."

This is the famous Puente Nuevo. It's a bridge on a cliff. It's scary to look at but not bad to cross.

Pictures don't even capture how far that drop is!

My attempt at being artistic.

I thought it was funny. Man has evolved from a monkey to a man with a sophisticated wine glass.

An arch from the Muslim times.

Taking a break on the side of a cliff/mountain side /rock thing.

Everyone was sniffing the flower. Turns out it's just big and pretty, no smell.

The highlight of ronda...

The bull ring!!!

There were no bulls so I had to improvise.

It was more impressive than I thought it would be.

My favorite part of most museums...

The clothes!

This is an official dueling gun.

This is a pretty shotgun. A manly shot gun!
